The editors of the Berkeley Journal of Gender, Law & Justice invite submissions of research, analysis, narrative, theory, and commentary that critically examine the intersection of gender with one or more other axes of subordination, including, but not limited to, race, class, sexual orientation, and disability. We gladly accept submissions of articles, commentary pieces, recent development pieces, and book reviews, and we publish work by professors, practitioners, and students.

In a recent nationwide empirical analysis of specialty journals based on author-prominence, BGLJ ranked first among all journals devoted to feminist legal scholarship. Tracey E. George & Chris Guthrie, An Empirical Evaluation of Specialized Law Reviews, 26 FLA. ST. U. L. REV. 813, 832 (1999).

Manuscripts will be accepted with the understanding that their content is unpublished previously. If any part of a paper has already been published, or is to be published elsewhere, the author must include this information at the time of submission.

We strongly prefer the electronic submission of manuscripts via the online submissions service ExpressO or directly via email. Alternatively, one hard copy may be mailed to the journal for consideration. Please include the full name of the author(s), together with academic and professional affiliations. Citations should conform to THE BLUEBOOK: A UNIFORM SYSTEM OF CITATION (Columbia Law Review Ass’n et al. eds., 19th ed. 2010). Submitted manuscripts will not be returned unless the author so requests, and includes a stamped self-addressed envelope.

BGLJ publishes two issues per year, and submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
